The 1st Saturday of each month the Art Center hosts an event that is free to the public. All of the studios are open and we have about 30+ vendors set up all over the ground. There is always live music and great food along with lots of activities for the kids. Come out the next 1st Saturday and Share in The Art Spirit!
Our most asked about event is the 1st Saturday of each month. If you produce an art project and desire to show and sell to the public then 1st Saturday could be a good venue. Booths are scattered throughout the Chicken Farm Art Center and the Inn at the Art Center. This event is open 10 to 5 and free to the public. We have free clay for the kids and other activities, music demonstrations, and the Silo House Restaurant has lunch food for sale. The event attracts a large crowd and we can accommodate many artists setting up 10x10 booths or tables spaces. Our purpose of 1st Saturday is to promote the Art Spirit in San Angelo. We are trying to show the best of the best art work. Please help us maintain quality art. The Art Center reserves the right to approve of work for showing. Also we need a variety of work…a lot of different media. Some media have been saturated and will require a jury system in the future.
To be considered for a space-
First come by with work and let us see what you do or email in digital pictures of your work and information. You will fill out paperwork at this time and we will photograph you and your work. Generally Kassie is in the shop from 10:00am - 5:00pm Tuesday through Saturday or you can call ahead of time and plan a time. If Kassie is unavailable Roger Allen will review your work. After viewing your work, if need be, there are others that will review your work and make the decision of it fitting with what we are trying to present to the community. When selected to show-
On the 1st Saturday find Kassie and you will be told where to set up. Booth Fee is $30.00 and $5.00 for Table Rental if needed. All booth fees are to be prepaid the 25th of the month before First Saturday to guarantee your space, spaces not prepaid will be subject for redistribution. Set up is between 7:45 and 9:15 Saturday morning. After unloading all vehicles must be moved across the street. Cars must be off the lot by 9AM. Show opens at 10am. All vendors are required to stay for the duration of the event till 5pm.
The location of your booth is at the discretion of the Art Center!
Several Long term participants have 1st choice on their location…but there are no bad spots and every one sees the same amount of traffic. Please no bickering. We don’t like it. Sometimes you’ll be happy and sometimes…almost happy.
